Abstract

O presente artigo destaca as ideias de John Dewey sobre a importância da educação para a continuidade dos grupos sociais e para a reconstrução e reorganização da sociedade democrática, priorizando o aprender fazendo e combinando prática, teoria, vida-experiência-aprendizagem em um processo permanente. É uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre uma teoria geral da educação fundada na democracia que vê a educação como uma reconstrução e reorganização da experiência para um em mundo em mudança, ou seja, como um processo geral, uma necessidade de vida ou um recurso de transmissão do patrimônio cultural acumulado pelo grupo social a seus descendentes, representando, também, ao nosso ver, a influência pragmatista mais marcante e significativa no Brasil, principalmente através de Anísio Teixeira.
