Abstract

Hans Jonas propone la ética ambiental para regular las relaciones
del ser humano con la naturaleza basada en la responsabilidad y en la autonomía humanas y en valores como austeridad, pudor, misterio y temor en el ámbito de la metafísica del ser y del deber ser. La ética ambiental del desarrollo sostenible implica la renuncia a la utopía del progreso sin límites y a las libertades individuales irrestrictas, chocándose con presupuestos sostenidos por la modernidad. No el mero conocimiento tecnológico destruye el medio ambiente, pero la racionalidad instrumental y pragmática que regula su uso. La ética del cuidado, basada en la reciprocidad y en la mutualidad es útil a la construcción de una nueva sensibilidad ambiental.
