“Participação não tem Idade” Participação das Crianças e Cidadania da Infância

Este artigo pretende caracterizar algumas questões relativas à participação das criança s a partir da Sociologia da Infância, que tem vindo a considerar a infância como uma construç ão social e a compreender as crianças como actores sociaisplenos, competentes, activos e com “voz”. Defendemos uma concepção de cidadania activa e crítica que concebe às crianças e jovens como actores sociais imprescindíveis e participativos na sociedade, implicando não só o reconhecimento formal de
direitos mas também a s condiç ões do seu ex ercício por meio de uma plena participação. A participação apresenta-se, então, como condição absoluta para tornar efectivo o discurso que promove direitos para a infância e, portanto, a promoção
dos direitos de participação, nas suas várias dimensões, assume -se como um imperativo da cidadania da infância.
