Abstract

There is general agreement that the level of schooling is the main factor that determines the wage income discrepancies between individuals. However, there is no consensus regarding the explanatory power of these different levels of schooling. In this way, the purpose is to verify if the explanatory power of the variable degree of instruction on the remuneration increases in the proportion in which the years of study are increased, indicating therefore some levels where other variables would influence more the remuneration than the level of schooling. The results indicate that for the lower education groups the explanatory power of the years of study on their remuneration is statistically significant, but it is lower than the explanatory power on the group with the highest level of schooling, indicating that for the lower education groups there are other factors which have a greater impact on the individual's remuneration.

Edson Vinicius Pontes Bastos, UFRJ - Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Production Engineer, currently PhD student in Production Engineering at COPPE / UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Academic Master's in Accounting from UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Graduated in Bachelor of Naval Science, studied at the Higher Education Institution of the Navy of Brazil - Merchant Navy Officers Training School - EFOMM / CIAGA Graduation with recognition equivalent to the Bachelor of Business Administration, regulated by Normative Resolution (RN) No. 547, Federal Board of Directors. In addition, he holds a Bachelor's Degree in Production Engineering from the Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Suckow da Fonseca (CEFET / RJ). Post-graduated in Quality Management (QSMS) and Safety Engineering. Main lines of research: Financial market, accounting and corporate finance, in addition to other topics in production engineering with application of operational research and statistical methods.

Márcia da Silva Carvalho, UFRJ - Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro/ Professor adjunto

Doutor em Ciências, em Planejamento Energético - Área de Concentração: Planejamento Ambiental, pelo Programa de Pós-graduação da Engenharia - PPE/COPPE/UFRJ, em 2011. Mestre em Ciências Contábeis pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1999). Atualmente é professor adjunto da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Tem experiência na área Contábil atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Ensino e Pesquisa em Contabilidade, com os seguintes objetivos - realizar pesquisas sobre métodos de ensino que propiciem uma aprendizagem experiencial nas disciplinas que contemplam os conteúdos específicos, relativos à atividade a ser desempenhada pelo futuro profissional e material didático para Contabilidade Inclusiva; e pesquisar sobre os fatores que favorecem ao adoecimento nos programas stricto sensu em contabilidade e áreas correlatas

Marcelo Alvaro Macedo, UFRJ - Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro/ Professor adjunto

Possui graduação em Administração Pública e de Empresas pela Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (1994), Mestrado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (1998), Doutorado em Engenharia de Produção pela COPPE-UFRJ (2006) e Pós-Doutorado em Controladoria e Contabilidade pela FEA-USP (2010). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro no Departamento de Contabilidade da Faculdade de Administração e Ciências Contábeis (FACC). Tem atuado na área de Ciências Contábeis, com ênfase em Desempenho Organizacional, Controladoria e Finanças Corporativas, Teoria da Decisão e Métodos Quantitativos Aplicados. Em 2015 foi eleito Diretor Científico da ANPCONT, atuando nessa função até final de 2016. De set/2016 até junho/2019 foi membro titular do Comitê de Assessoramento do CNPq na área de Administração, Ciências Contábeis e Economia (CA-AE), sendo coordenador do referido comitê no período de julho/2018 à junho/2019. Foi bolsista de produtividade PQ-2 no período 2012-2014 e está como bolsista PQ-1D para o período de 2015-2019. Possui diversos artigos publicados em periódicos e anais de eventos científicos nacionais e internacionais.
