Organizational Commitment and Entrenchment and its relationships with Engagement at Work: a study with technical-administrative servants of a Federal Teaching Institution

This study aimed to identify the levels of organizational commitment, organizational entrenchment and engagement in the work and to analyze the relationship between the organizational commitment and organizational entrenchment with the engagement in the work of the technical-administrative servants of a Federal Teaching Institution. The research was carried out with 79 Technical-Administrative servers, occupants of several positions, belonging to a Federal Institutes of Education, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. This research is descriptive, using a quantitative methodological approach, and for the collected data was used a questionnaire with closed questions, to investigate the levels of organizational commitment, organizational entrenchment and engagement in the work and its dimensions. The results show a high level of commitment, medium entrenchment, and engagement in the servers' work. Regarding the correlations, the results of this study showed a positive and significant correlation of commitment and engagement in the work, mainly with the dedication dimension, and with the entrenchment, the results showed a negative and significant correlation with the engagement in the work, being the most significant results with the dimension of alternatives limitations.
