Deforestation in the amazon: an analysis using the MQO Method

The Amazon biome represents about 49% of the Brazilian territory. With the occupation process that advanced rapidly from the 1960s, there was an equally accelerated suppression of the forest that characterizes the biome, reaching, in 2020, 74.2 million hectares of deforested area. In this context, the research analyzed, in empirical terms, the main apparent causes of deforestation in the 513 municipalities that make up the biome. Using the main variables mentioned in the literature, mathematical modeling of deforestation was carried out using MQO. The work concludes that the regression model identified that the expansion of the cattle herd, the expansion of roads and the proximity to consumer centers are the main factors that contribute to the deforestation of the biome.
