Abstract

China is committed to striking a balance between environmental preservation and economic progress, a worry that has been increasingly acute during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is reflected in its objective of reaching peak carbon emissions before 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. In order to combat climate change, we must adopt a new paradigm for technological and economic advancement in which sustainability is emphasized as a key concern in international trade ties, particularly in the dynamics between Brazil and China. To satisfy the needs of the Chinese market, Brazilian industry must overcome formidable obstacles in the areas of social, environmental, and corporate governance. Brazil, on the other hand, possesses the inherent technological and natural ability to lead the world in the sustainable production of bioinputs, including agricultural commodities. Conversely, China is becoming more concerned with guaranteeing the durability and sustainability of its supply chains, opening opportunities for closer collaboration and joint tackling of common challenges. This article, through a comprehensive review of existing literature, seeks to identify points of convergence and inherent challenges in this dynamic, aiming to provide a better understanding of the context and offer insights for decision-making and relevant policy formulation.
