In the studies on Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Orientation, as an entrepreneurial behavior, is seen as an important specification of the strategic orientation of an organization. Especially, the literature has signaled that efforts should be directed to consolidate several factors that characterize the manifestation of entrepreneurial orientation in organizations, especially those that are not motivated by profit. In this sense, this research purposed to identify a set of factors that represents the manifestation of the proactiveness dimension of entrepreneurial orientation in nonprofit organizations. In the exploratory study of qualitative analysis, the authors conducted 11 in-depth interviews with experts from the nonprofit sector, which brings together 16 Ophthalmologic Medical Associations. The use of Atlas.ti software contributed to the analysis of the factors that characterize the manifestation of the proactiveness dimension, which presented higher or lower occurrence in the interviews. The results of the study present a set of factors of the proactiveness dimension adapted to the reality of the nonprofit context, evidencing those evoked with the higher occurrence, with emphasis on marketing aspects with a commercial purpose and use of networking and benchmarking skills. The study contributes with a set of leading factors capable of assisting managers in decision-making and the realization of entrepreneurial strategy processes. It can also contribute to the search and identification of opportunities, whether for social or commercial purposes.
