The aim of the study was to analyze the sustainable impact of the UFSM PoliFeira on participating family farmers and the local community. In methodological procedures, using the case study and a content analysis technique. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with farmers, organizers, consumers, and the university representative. Secondary data used were documents such as financial controls and activity reports. According to the results, PoliFeira impacts sustainably participating farmers and the local community. The first reason is because the impact in relation to energy, water and food is significant since PoliFeira started supporting farmers in the more efficient use of water, in raising awareness about renewable energy and in the transfer to clean production. In addition, the economic impact and, consequently, the quality of life of farmers, was relevant. Regarding the social impact, PoliFeira provides farmers bonds of friendship - among themselves and with consumers - and recognition. In respect of consumers, the impact was positive because the PoliFeira guarantees quality food and offers the agroecological awareness. PoliFeira is considered a well-defined initiative by UFSM, and an example to be followed by other universities and public administrations, due to its socio-educational character and commitment to sustainable agriculture. Lastly, the study proves the relevancy of the FEW Nexus approach in the analysis of sustainable development for family farming.
