TRANSPLANTE RENAL: Um Caminho Para a Vida ou um Passo Para a Morte?

Abstract

O paciente com Insuficiência Renal Crônica (IRC) apresenta
lesão renal que geralmente causa perda progressiva e irreversível da função dos rins. O transplante é uma forma de tratamento dessa doença que busca oferecer melhor qualidade de vida aos portadores de IRC. Esse artigo é resultado de uma pesquisa onde se buscou estudar quais as representações de pacientes com IRC sobre o transplante renal, já que a doença, além das alterações orgânicas, também causa mudanças de ordem psíquica e social ao paciente. Para responder a essa questão, utilizou-se o recurso de observação participante e entrevistas semi-estruturadas com eixos norteadores, sendo que um deles foi sobre o transplante renal, no qual esse trabalho foi baseado. A partir da análise dos dados observou-se que o transplante renal é associado a sentimentos que causam angústia, gera dúvidas, e por isso acaba sendo evitado, enquanto a hemodiálise é relacionada à vida e é vista como um processo seguro, ao qual os pacientes já estão adaptados.
