CARACTERIZAÇÃO E CONDIÇÕES DE SAÚDE DOS IDOSOS DO MUNICÍPIO DE PASSO FUNDO, RIO GRANDE DO SUL

O aumento da população idosa no Brasil gerado pelas melhores condições de vida traz a tona uma preocupaçãoimportante com relação às condições com que a mesma está envelhecendo. O objetivo do presente estudo foi caracterizar as condições de saúde da população idosa do município de Passo Fundo – RS. Para isto utilizou-se um questionário contendo perguntas abertas e fechadas. Os resultados indicam que a maioria da população idosa é do sexo feminino, poucos são tabagistas e/ou etilistas, a maioria pratica atividade. Verificou-se ainda alta prevalência de hipertensão e a maioria dos idosos é da religião católica e tem escolaridade baixa. Foi possível concluir que a realidade desta população é muito semelhante a vivenciada em várias regiões do país onde outros estudos foram realizados, o que demonstra a necessidade de uma maior preocupação em gerar ações de prevenção e intervenção precoce que visem uma maior atenção à saúde do idoso.
