Traducción y evaluación de validez y confiabilidad de la Male Body Attitudes Scale en hombres brasileños

El presente estudio realizó la traducción y evaluación de la validez y confiabilidad de la Male Body Attitudes Scale (MBAS) para hombres brasileños. Se llevaron a cabo los pasos de traducción, síntesis de traducción, retrotraducción, comité de expertos y pre-test. Poco después, se aplicó la versión brasileña del MBAS a una muestra de 454 universitarios, con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 35 años. La estructura factorial de la escala se evaluó mediante análisis factorial confirmatorio (validez factorial), así como la validez convergente, mediante la asociación entre las puntuaciones de la MBAS y síntomas de dismorfia muscular, insatisfacción corporal, búsqueda de musculatura y compromiso psicológico con el físico del ejercicio. La confiabilidad se estimó mediante análisis de consistencia interna y mediante la técnica test-retest, con un intervalo de dos semanas. Los resultados indicaron que la versión brasileña del MBAS replica la estructura factorial original de la escala compuesta por tres factores (Músculo, Grasa Corporal y Altura) y 24 ítems, con buenos índices de ajuste (χ²/gl = 3,523; CFI = 0,95; TLI = 0,95; SRMR = 0,06; y RMSEA = 0,06 [IC 95%: 0,06, 0,08; p = 0,019]). MBAS también presentó una adecuada validez convergente. Se observó buena consistencia interna (coeficiente alfa de Cronbach de 0,87) y estabilidad test-retest (coeficiente de correlación intraclase igual a 0,89; p <0,001), lo que da fe de la fiabilidad de la versión brasileña del MBAS. Se concluye que el MBAS fue traducido y adaptado para la población brasileña y presentó buenos indicadores psicométricos de validez y confiabilidad en una muestra de hombres universitarios.
