The present study aimed to evaluate the static balance in 160 individuals, 80 in the Down Syndrome (GSD) group and 80 in the control group (CG), aged 7 to 14 years under open eye conditions (OA) and eyes closed (OF). The Balance Board ™ (BB) of the Nintendo® Wii Fit was used to generate the balance data, which were collected by LabView for calculating the center of pressure (CP). It is concluded that GSD individuals oscillated more than CG individuals, under OA and OF conditions. It was noted that the BB was efficient for assessing balance, reinforcing the findings of the literature on the characteristics of balance in the population studied and that further studies should be done with low cost equipment for balance evaluation and postural control.
