Abstract

A anemia afeta em todo mundo aproximadamente dois bilhões de pessoas, sendo as gestantes e crianças alguns dos grupos de populações mais acometidos. Este estudo propõe determinar a prevalência de anemia e seus fatores determinantes em gestantes. Foram analisados os dados de Hemoglobina (Hb), Hematócrito (Ht) e Volume Corpuscular Médio (VCM) de 107 gestantes, sendo que apenas 77 delas foram entrevistadas, para definir as características e os fatores determinantes no desenvolvimento de anemia. Encontrou-se 15 (14,02%) gestantes com Hb inferior a 11g/dL, dentre elas, 3 (2,83%) com Ht inferior a 33%. Ainda, 15 (14,02%) gestantes possuíam VCM inferiores a 80 fL. Dentre as gestantes entrevistadas, 12 (15,58%) apresentaram anemia, destas 8 (66,67%) possuíam renda inferior a dois salários mínimos, 9 (75%) relataram ter como grau de instrução o ensino fundamental e 3 (25%) consumiam poucos alimentos contendo ferro e não utilizavam sulfato ferroso como suplementação. Esses resultados mostram um grupo carente, e com fatores determinantes que aumentam a probabilidade de desenvolver anemia na gestante e no feto, necessitando, portanto, de medidas que possibilitem identificar, prevenir, orientar essas gestantes.
