Abstract

Este é um estudo descritivo, exploratório, transversal de abordagem quantitativa com objetivo de investigar a prevalência do Aleitamento Materno Exclusivo até o sexto mês de vida no municipio de Mamonas/MG. A amostra foi composta por 33 lactantes cadastradas nas ESFs. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um questionário estruturado aplicado no período de março a abril de 2014. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as lactantes tinham entre 18 e 40 anos, 54,55% casadas, 48,49% parda, 60,61% com 2º grau completo, 45,46% domésticas, 60,70% com renda familiar inferior a um salário mínimo e 39,40% único filho. A prevalência de aleitamento materno exclusivo identificada no ano de 2013 foi de 51,52%. Concluiu-se que o tempo de amamentação exclusiva é satisfatório e condizente com o recomendado pelo Ministério da Saúde, uma vez que a maioria das lactantes conseguiu manter o tempo de aleitamento de forma exclusiva até o sexto mês de vida.
