Abstract

Os medicamentos compõem o cotidiano das pessoas e poucos conhecem as implicações do uso inadequado dos medicamentos e os riscos que estes resíduos químicos, representam para o meio ambiente, já que estes não recebem
tratamento adequado e não há legislação específica para  estes. Objetivo do estudo foi avaliar o destino final dos
medicamentos não mais utilizados pela população e o nível de informação sobre o destino correto deste tipo de resíduo. Utilizou-se como instrumento de pesquisa uma entrevista semi-estruturada e de um diário de campo. Realizarem-se 19 visitas em famílias residentes em áreas de abrangência da ESF Adolfo Groth, onde 46% dos entrevistados relatam jogar os medicamentos no lixo comum e 21% relatam entregar estes, na ESF destes 79% dos entrevistados não haviam sido orientados sobre o assunto. Os resultados demonstram a importância de orientar e conscientizar sobre os problemas ambientais decorrentes do uso e destino incorreto dos medicamentos.
