AVALIAÇÃO DA ATIVIDADE ANTIOXIDANTE DE COSMÉTICOS ANTI-IDADE

O envelhecimento é um processo natural que se inicia com odeclínio das funções fisiológicas, provocadas por alterações moleculares e celulares, acelerado por moléculas instáveis e reativas conhecidas como radicais livres, aliado à perda da capacidade do organismo de se recuperar dessas agressões. O organismo conta com diferentes sistemas de defesa antioxidantes, porém, ao ocorrer desequilíbrio na defesa antioxidante, há um incremento no número de radicais livres, processo conhecido como estresse oxidativo. A pele está sujeita a esse processo e com o passar do tempo tornam-se visíveis as mudanças em seu aspecto, como o aparecimento de rugas, aspereza, falta de pigmentação e flacidez. A formação de radicais livres é inevitável e sua eliminação total impossível, visto que são oriundos de processos metabólicos essenciais
à vida. O embasamento científico possibilitou à indústria
cosmética o desenvolvimento de vários ativos cosméticos
empregados em novos produtos, especialmente contendo antioxidantes, com os quais é possível retardar os efeitos cutâneos dos radicais livres. Diante disso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar a atividade antioxidante de quatro cosméticos anti-idade comercializados em todo o país pelo método DPPH. Foi possível constatar que os cremes possuem atividade antioxidante, entretanto esta ação é variada entre os cremes anti-idade.
