This study aimed to identify and describe the scientific production available in the literature about the performance of PCT in different national and international scenarios. This is an integrative literature review, carried out in February 2020, in the databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), International Literature in Health Sciences (PUBMED), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Scopus and Embase, based on the inclusion of scientific articles available in full, freely accessible, published between 2014 and 2019, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, as well as those with criteria of eligibility: to address aspects related to the performance of the PCT in the different national and/or international scenarios. 1,267 articles were found in the databases, 1,240 were excluded after applying the exclusion criteria, 27 articles were selected to be read in full and, in the end, 23 studies were included to be analyzed to support the literature review. The studies presented unique elements regarding the performance of the PCT in each study scenario, even though there was a difficulty in defining, from a specific point, the concept of performance. Highlighting the importance of building debates on the challenges that still permeate the health system and society, aiming at the implementation of integrated and intersectoral actions to effectively combat and control the disease, taking into account the determinants of TB that require an interprofessional approach and centered on the sick, family and community.
