The ethics of life is indispensable in contemporary times and the matters relating to it concern everyone. But to be able to participate in debates and even seek solutions to problems in this field, citizens need to be educated in bioethics. So, from a descriptive, bibliographic and documentary research, is sought to verify how education in bioethics is provided in Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights of UNESCO. Aiming at this goal, using the deductive method of approach, the present study is organized in four topics: in the first, are presented conceptions of human rights; in the second, notions of bioethics; in the third, intersections between bioethics and human rights; and in the fourth and last, reflections on the right to education and education in bioethics, which is described from the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights. The analysis shows that, although the education in bioethics is provided in article 23 of this Declaration as one of the measures to your promotion, the process of educating in bioethics is not detailed. However, the recognition of this education in such an instrument represents a significant step towards the promotion of respect for the dignity of the human person in front of the issues raised by the progress and its technologies.
