Abstract

Opresente trabalho pretende analisar as consequências da globalização econômicae do neoliberalismo nos Estados-Nação, tendo como foco a (im)possibilidade daflexibilização de sua soberania e da concretização das teses que pregam seufim. Sendo assim, em um primeiro momento aborda os principais modelos de Estado– Liberal, Social e Democrático - que surgiram na cultura Ocidental, fazendouma reconstrução da evolução desses modelos. A seguir procura contextualizar osurgimento da globalização econômica e da ideologia neoliberal. Ademais, mostraalgumas consequências que esses fenômenos causam nos Estados-Nação, a saber, aflexibilização da soberania e obstrução na efetivação de diversos direitossociais. Na parte final do trabalho é rebatida a hipótese que aponta para o fimdos Estados-Nação, defendendo-se que essas teses devem ser afastadas, porquecolocam em risco a concretização de um dos principais objetivos inerentes aoEstado Democrático de Direito, qual seja, a redução das desigualdades sociais.
